After a 4-month refurbishment of our bar and restaurant, the doors are now open on the new era of Le Monde! Our classic George Street venue combines luxurious interiors, delicious dining and innovative cocktails. Our new look will transport you to a place of relaxed global glamour offering a taste of far off cities.
The transformation is led by our spectacular new cocktail menu, which promises a journey of discovery to some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. Take a trip through our cocktail creations, from Cairo to Casablanca, Reykjavik to Rio, Beijing to Barcelona. Wherever your taste buds take you, our skilled bar team will mix up one of our modern cocktails inspired by classic and lesser known drinks from around the world.
Our modern food menu offers a world of flavour and elegance, at any time of the day. Delicious small plate dining combines global inspiration with local Scottish produce, serving up tasty bites and more substantial dishes from land and sea. There are also plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans.
The venue’s refurbishment was designed and project managed by RYE Design, an Architecture and Interior Design Studio based in London. Their aim was to enhance the building’s fine period features with the use of beautiful metals and marbles, and bold contemporary colours.
Commenting on the re-opening, Darren Scott (General Manager) said: ‘Le Monde has been a favourite venue in the heart of Edinburgh for many years now, and we’ve taken that wonderful idea of a trip to glamorous and exciting places and reinvented it for modern customers. The newly refurbished bar and restaurant areas are simply stunning. The décor exudes the kind of warm cosmopolitan glamour and relaxed luxury that make you want to settle into a booth and while away the day or evening in great company! Our food and drink menus are a labour of love for our team and they have delved into the culture, customs and cocktails of cities around the world to create a very special selection for Le Monde customers. Every dish and drink has been devised from scratch, blending global inspiration with some of the beautiful ingredients we have here in Scotland. To top it all, we have some brilliant new managers, kitchen and bar teams joining our charming front of house staff, and we can’t wait to welcome customers, new and old, to celebrate a new era of Le Monde with us.’
We also offer five flexible event spaces which can be tailored to suit all groups and sizes including an exciting festive dining and party programme for 2019. Our decadent private event space, Dirty Martini combines a gothic saloon, embellished mirrors and atmospheric lighting. This luxurious & decadent space can hold parties of up to 300 guests. Other areas overlook our stylish restaurant allowing you to indulge in the vibrant atmosphere of our main bar or have a hidden, warm and more secluded vibe.
