Edinburgh Christmas is a spectacular, six-week season of festive entertainment in the heart of the city. From 16th November 2019 to 4th January 2020 the city will be full of festive fun and entertainment. The festival is a fantastic Christmas celebration, and great fun for the whole family!
Light Night – Sunday 17th November 2019 at 3:30pm
Hosted by Forth 1’s Arlene Stuart this event will feature performances from local choirs and a very special appearance from the cast of the Lion King Musical which returns to Edinburgh from 5th December. A spectacular display will mark the official switch on of Edinburgh’s Christmas lights!

The Festive Markets, East Princes Street Gardens
The traditional Christmas market in the heart of the city centre offers a unique shipping experience with everything from local and bespoke products and gifts to tasty treats! From intimate street food gatherings to large European markets there are lots of interesting stalls where you can find that perfect present or get in the festive spirit with a hot mug of mulled wine.
Johnnie Walker Bothy Bar
Located across 2 floors on the Mound, the bothy bar will open its doors to immerse visitors into the world of whisky. Serving a variety of hot toddies and whisky cocktails to showcase the flavours from the four corners of Scotland that go into creating the Johnnie Walker brand. The perfect spot to cosy up next to the fire and enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of the markets.
Welcome to the Jingle: Silent Adventures
This year, Edinburgh’s resident silent disco will take you on an adventure through the Christmas markets! This fun-filled activity id suitable for all ages, tickets can be purchase here.
Kids Attractions
Younger children can enjoy Santa Land in Princes Street Gardens, along with a festive fairground of rides and the Christmas Tree Maze. With plenty for the whole family, rides include the Santa Train, Reindeer ride, the spiralling Helter Skelter and many more. As it wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to Santa, there will be Santa’s Grotto where children will receive a small gift from Santa himself. Tickets must be booked in advance here.

The Forth 1 Big Wheel is an icon of the Edinburgh Christmas skyline and offers dazzling views of the city. Or take a twirl on the 60 metre high thrilling Star Flyer offering more spectacular view of the capital.
